Cindy Sherman ~Who is she?~

Cindy Sherman's photographs are all self portraits, however she's like a grown up playing dress up! Each one of her photo's are of elaborately made up women, each with their own personal form of identity. She seems to be portraying the most extreme versions of stereotypes but also a variation of different masks.. showing different transformations with make up, clothes, hair and editing. I think it she is showing how women can or have been seen or perceived, one portrait showing a cheap made up sex object and then the next a sophisticated conservative aristocratic woman. Each woman's emotions are also clear, being either vulnerable or powerful. Every portrait has its own back story, and Cindy Sherman manages to be a believable character in all of them! So, which one really is the artist? Or is she a mix of all of them..?

Cornelia Parker ~sculpture~

The suspended bricks and stones create a reality that could never be possible, making you feel like you're looking at magic -or just something of the sort.
Its a bend in reality, and her work is defying the laws of gravity and so stimulates the mind to think further beyond the rules of 'physics' and in doing so creates a magical space in which you could almost pretend that there is a greater power controlling the objects.
The first image in black and white makes me think about telekinesis, and that the man is in fact controlling the objects... an impossible reality, but one that Cornelia Parker explores and creates in her own space. Really mind blowing.
